EVRAZ releases mobile app to protect employees from COVID-19 spread

EVRAZ is rolling out a mobile application named Antivirus to promptly alert employees of their possible COVID-19 exposure. It is based on the “Stopp Corona” application, which was developed jointly by Accenture and the Austrian Red Cross to more efficiently identify symptoms of the novel coronavirus infection.

Antivirus will offer a check list developed by EVRAZ  in case of COVID-19 infection, and general recommendations based on Rospotrebnadzor requirements.. The application will be anonymously exchanging data with other employees’ devices nearby (automatically, via a Bluetooth connection, or manually). If an employee suspects that they might have COVID-19, all of their contacts will be alerted via the app and reminded to self-isolate. This will help break the chain of virus transmission.

Antivirus is being rolled out in Divisions Urals and Siberia and will be available to all staff. To incentivise downloads, EVRAZ is allocating funds to purchase protective items and antiseptics for medical facilities in the regions where its production sites are located.

‘EVRAZ utilises a lot of mobile solutions as part of our Digital transformation programme. All our efforts are focused now on protecting our employees against COVID-19 and Antivirus will fit in nicely into the range of preventive measures EVRAZ has been taking’, says Artem Natrusov, EVRAZ Vice-President, IT.

‘The earlier the company takes steps towards isolating individuals with a suspected coronavirus infection, the better it is able to protect the health and safety of the whole team. Antivirus helps identify those staff who are already infected or have a risk of contracting the virus, enabling the HR team to effectively communicate with them and discuss the steps to be taken: going on a sick leave or switching to working from home. The application meets all personal data protection requirements and has algorithms to counter cyber risks’, said Nicolas Gutierrez, Head of Resources at Accenture, Russia and Kazakhstan.
