Evraz Group S.A. (LSE: EVR), one of the leading vertically integrated steel production and mining businesses with operations mainly in Russia, today announced the timely commissioning of the fully reconstructed coke battery No.1 with annual capacity of 750,000 tonnes per year, at OAO West Siberian Iron and Steel Plant (ZapSib).
The project was implemented in line with Evraz Group’s strategy aimed at retaining its position as one of the most cost efficient integrated steel making and mining businesses in the world. With commissioning of coke battery No.1 ZapSib will be fully self-sufficient with own produced high quality coke.
The coke battery at ZapSib is a unique state-of-the-art coke battery in Russia, with a high degree of energy efficiency and automatisation of all technological processes. With the reconstruction of the coke battery, the Company accomplished a large-scale modernisation programme on approximately 50 facilities, which are related to or supporting it. The coke battery meets the latest industry environmental standards for dustless coke loading and provides almost all waste and emissions collection.
